A Father's Love
Romans 8:13-16
Paul, in a way, tells us that the Holy Spirit of God will do things on the inside of you that signals to you that you are indeed a child of God. We know you’re a child of God if by faith you believe in Jesus, God’s Son as the one who came from Heaven to die in your place, pay the penalty for your sins and the sins of the world, and rise to new life, promising us new life. That belief and acceptance of who Jesus is and His claims makes you a child of God. In that moment of belief, you are born-again and become adopted into the family of God. This is the greatest miracle for anyone to experience! This adoption as sons though does mean that we will face some trials just like our older brother Jesus faced because we now stand on the side of truth in a truth-opposed world.
But regardless of the trials, we face, we can always rest in the truth that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and cares for us and loves to spend time with us.
“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.”
If you’re struggling with believing that you can rest - truly rest - free of stress - free of worry - free of fear - then I encourage you to watch this video. I wrote this song last week to remind you of the love of our Father that you and I are invited to rest in. The world demands our attention, insists we comply to it’s pressures, deadlines, and expectations of family members… we must take time to just be. To be in the presence of our Father and rest in His love.
In Father God’s love, there is no fear, no worry about tomorrow, no dread, no anxiety.
“If your earthly fathers know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will your Heavenly Father care for you?” - Jesus
