What If ...

I’ve seen God give a word to someone and it change their life drastically, causing them to surrender 100% instead of half of their heart, and I’ve seen this unfold over and over again. I’ve seen God do miracles - physical miracles. I’ll never forget watching a boy about 7 years old who’s legs were bowed inward and who struggled to run, get healed and run off as fast as the other kids shouting about his healing. I’ve seen the blind eyes of a young girl open up right in front of me as I was playing guitar for a friend who was ministering. I’ve seen God heal depression, removing that dark, ugly cloud in a moment that had hovered for years. I’ve seen God even restore marriages that were once considered “irreconcilable.” God has always done amazing things in the lives of peope when a “tabernacle” person steps into the picture. When someone lives with a constant state of faith, asking “What if … God wants to do a miracle?” Miracles seem to follow. What I’m sharing in today’s blog is an exceprt from my upcoming book, ASK THINK IMAGINE. In it, I tell story after story of supernatural miracles, and then we find evidence in Scripture for a faith-filled doctrine and lifestyle.

We are called to work with God to bring about beauty in this world. Sometimes that’s through praying for someone who is sick. Sometimes it’s building something beautiful people can enjoy. Sometimes it’s writing a song. Sometimes it’s sending a text to encourage someone. Sometimes it’s just welcoming someone at our church. We are called to bear the image of Jesus and the Holy Spirit makes that possible!

“What if?”

Two of the most powerful words in the human language: What if you could be very sure of who you are and totally at peace with it - completely free from shame? What if you could have that same sense of well-being that Jesus walked in - that gut-level knowledge of who you are, where you’re going, and why you’re going there? What if you could see miracles like Jesus did and see God’s powerful hand at work all around you? What if you left the empty life that Paul described and started living the full life - the abundant life Jesus promised? What would that look like? What if you were so free of anger and shame that you were overflowing with gladness, happy to serve at your local church or even just pray for someone at the restaurant, let alone notice them?

What if you started to pray for the sick, and people were healed right then and there?

What if you and I believed what Jesus promised?

What if the millions of Christians across the earth were set free from the lie of shame, filled with the wildly, creative Spirit of God, and lived their lives with righteousness, peace and joy? What if Christians had a contagious joy that changed every environment they entered? What if instead of being consumers of culture they were the creators of it?

That is what’s at stake.

What is the supernatural - a miracle? Didn’t those cease with the apostle’s death? Although millions believe this, even entire denominations, does that make it true? After all, what is a miracle?

What is a miracle?

“A miracle is when Heaven’s reality invades earth’s problem.”

Many who believe the miracles of Jesus and the miracles experienced by His disciples refuse to believe that miracles are still available today. But isn’t that incongruent? Even illogical? Can time and space - a few hundred decades, eliminate God’s ability to invade Earth’s problem? Is God truly only interested in doing miracles 2,000 years ago and then again in the life to come in the New Heavens and New Earth? Aren’t we just waiting to “get outta here”!?

Jesus taught us to pray “Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven, people are healed, people are free from fear and anxiety, people are filled with joy and wonder, and people are pain-free! What if your Christmas season looked different than the last few years? What if the moment your relatives told you about a problem they were facing at work or a physical pain they had, you stopped and prayed for them? What if they sensed the presence of Jesus in a way that was undeniable? What if that feeling led to their curiousity and faith in the Lord? What if this December was like no other becuase you finally started to believe the pages of the Bible.
