Some difficult scriptures
Lately, I’ve been reading some very difficult scriptures. This morning’s devo seemed to be the hardest yet. In Matt. 10:26-39, Jesus states so many arresting things such as “There is nothing concealed that will not be exposed…" "Do not be afraid of people, but be afraid of the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell…" "Whoever disowns Me before men, I will disown him before my Father in Heaven." In these verses, we can see a side of God that many of us don’t see often. Yes, God is loving. Yes, God is our Father. Yes, God is merciful - more than we’ll ever know here on earth. But God is also just and He is bound by His word. In fact, it is His Word that will judge us at the Judgment Seat. We can look now to His Word to find out the standard by which we’ll be judged on that day. When we really take hold of these scriptures and allow their truth to penetrate our hearts, we’ll be less likely to sin and ignore God’s truth. I invite you to read Matt. 10 through and through and ask God to renew your fear of the Lord. After all, it is the BEGINNING of wisdom. And we could all use the wisdom of God in EVERY area of our lives.
