God Cares That Much!
God never ceases to amaze me. Again, God revealed Himself and communicated so clearly through multiple prophetic words to a young man last Sunday during our service. In short, he was encouraged and prophesied to my dad, the pastor, then 3 or 4 minutes later, I prophesied the same words to him. God made it so clear how He REALLY DOES know us inside and out. He knows us better than we know ourselves. It was so evident that this was a turning point for this young man, a fork in the road if you will. God cares that much about us! God will stop at nothing to win your heart!
When Jesus was agonizing over going to the cross, there were two things, two loves more specifically, that propelled him to move forward. First, His submission and obedience to His Father. He said in Luke 22:42 “Father, if You are willing, take this cup (the cross) from me; yet not my will, but Yours be done.” WOW! He loved His Father that much, it propelled Him to obedience unto death.
The second thing that propelled Him to go through with it was His love for you. Hebrews 12:2-3 says “For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the cross, scorning it’s shame, and sat down at the right hand of the Throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” What was the “joy set before him?” I’ll tell you. Seeing you and me saved from an eternity in hell away from God forever. Better question – “Who was the ‘joy set before Him’?” YOU! You and me! Jesus knew, if He could just endure the cross, somehow force Himself to suffer such cruelty and humiliation and agonizing pain, He could spend eternity in JOY with you and me. WOW! God cares that much!
Two challenges for you today. 1) Take time to ask God “Holy Spirit, who do you want me to encourage today? Who do you want me to talk to so that I can let them know “God cares that much!” 2) Take time to thank Jesus for caring so much for you, He was willing to give His life and send His Holy Spirit to send someone to tell you about Him.
